With the just-introduced second generation, the Lexus NX adds a new plug-in-hybrid model, the NX450h+.
The Lexus NX is the brand's entry in the hot-selling compact luxury SUV space. Redesigned for 2022, the second-generation NX now has four different powertrain offerings. At the top of the range is the version tested here, the plug-in-hybrid NX450h+.
The new Lexus NX wears fresh sheetmetal for 2022 and is 1.2 inches longer than the previous model.
The range-topping NX450h+ is the first plug-in hybrid in the NX lineup.
Total output is 302 horsepower, which coincidentally equals that of the Toyota RAV4 Prime that shares this same powertrain.
With a fully charged battery, the NX450h+ also can deliver 36 miles of EV range, according to the EPA.
The NX450h+ comes standard with 20-inch wheels.
Recharging using a 240-volt power source takes 4.5 hours, but that drops to 2.5 hours with the “optional” higher-capacity 6.6-kilowatt onboard charger that will be fitted to all NX plug-in hybrids imported to the U.S.
The new NX interior features an available 14.0-inch touchscreen (or a 9.8-inch base unit), and the remote touchpad is gone.
Upscale interior finishes befit the brand's luxury image.
The NX450h+ is available in Luxury and F Sport trims.
NX pricing starts at $39,500 for an NX250 with front-wheel drive, but the all-wheel-drive NX450h+ plug-in hybrid opens at $57,300.
