The much-anticipated Toyota GR Corolla is finally here. Taking the long-serving nameplate in a wholly new direction, the GR Corolla is a high-performance machine that comes loaded with serious equipment. A turbocharged three-cylinder engine packs 300 horsepower and is paired with a manual transmission.
The rally-inspired GR Corolla brings newfound performance to the venerable nameplate.
It's offered exclusively as a hatchback, whose blistered fenders house wider wheels and tires.
A turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine features a triple exhaust and cranks out 300 horsepower.
The GR Corolla initially will be offered in Core or Circuit trim, with a top-spec Morizo Edition to arrive later.
The Morizo Edition is the version pictured here. Its front end adds extra brake cooling ducts.
The standard Corolla interior is dressed up only slightly for GR duty.
A six-speed manual is the only gearbox offered.
Deeply bucketed front seats are upholstered in black microfiber.
The Morizo Edition shaves pounds by removing the back seat.
The standard GR-Four all-wheel-drive system can send up to 70 percent of the engine's torque rearward.
