The 2022 Ford Expedition Limited Stealth Performance model packs a 440-hp V-6 and hits 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
The 2022 Expedition Limited offers both a Stealth package and a Stealth Performance option. Each comes with blacked-out trim and black 22-inch wheels, but only the latter gets the high-output engine.
The Stealth Performance package adds $9880 to the price of a Limited and is available on regular-wheelbase and Max models, in rear- or four-wheel drive.
Oddly, the electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential and adaptive dampers are optional on the Stealth Performance.
Without any badging, the Stealth Performance's visual giveaway is its red brake calipers.
Inside, black leather with red stitching is mandatory.
Even with the adaptive dampers set to sport, the Expedition is a soft and comfy truck. It generated 0.75 g on the skidpad, which is at least better than the Cadillac Escalade-V managed.
The Expedition can tow as much as 9300 pounds as a rear-wheel-drive SUV or 9200 pounds in four-by-four form.
With a price around $80,000, the Expedition Stealth Performance begins to encroach on Lincoln Navigator territory. The Lincoln uses the same engine but isn't quite as quick.
With 510 lb-ft of torque at 2250 rpm, this Expedition doesn't need a lot of revs to get moving.
That dual exhaust isn't the kind that rattles your neighbors' windows. We measured a subdued 74 decibels of interior sound at wide-open throttle.
