The Cadillac Lyriq is the brand's first electric car.
The Lyriq uses GM's Ultium battery system, a flexible arrangement that also will power numerous other EVs. The Lyriq marks a departure for Cadillac not only in its propulsion system but in that it's not a BMW wannabe.
The Lyriq sets a new design language for Cadillac.
Size-wise, the Lyriq is less than two inches shorter than an XT6 but rides on a wheelbase that's some nine inches longer.
The first Lyriq models are all single-motor, rear-wheel drive. A dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration joins the lineup next year.
The single-motor Lyriq makes 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. The dual-motor version is expected to up that to 500 or so horsepower.
For now, only one battery pack is offered: a substantial 102.0-kWh unit that is said to provide 312 miles of range.
Cadillac claims a DC fast-charger can add 76 miles of range in 10 minutes.
The Lyriq Debut Edition, priced at $59,990, is already sold out, as is the standard 2023 model. But Cadillac is now taking orders for the 2024 Lyriq.
Deliveries of the 2024 Lyriq are promised for the spring of 2023.
The Lyriq interior features a curved 33.0-inch LED screen.
A paddle on the left side of the steering wheel can generate regenerative braking.
