The Genesis GV70 has impressed us in six-cylinder form, and the four-cylinder is its near-equal.
Previously, our exposure to the Genesis GV70 has exclusively been with the twin-turbocharged V-6 3.5T model. Now, we've finally had a chance to try the four-cylinder 2.5T version.
The Genesis GV70 competes in the compact luxury SUV segment against the BMW X3, Lexus RX, and many others.
The GV70 is offered in four-cylinder 2.5T and V-6 3.5T versions, both with standard all-wheel drive and multiple trim levels.
Whereas the 3.5T's twin-turbo V-6 develops 375 horsepower, the 2.5T's turbo four serves up 300 horsepower.
Torque from the turbo four measures 311 pound-feet, versus 391 for the six. Despite the lesser output, the 2.5T still hustled to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds.
The 2.5T's EPA fuel economy of 22/28 mpg city/highway improves on the 3.5T's 19-/25-mpg estimates.
With either engine, the GV70 has one of the most elegant interiors in its class.
A 14.5-inch center touchscreen is standard in the GV70, but unlike the top-spec version of the 3.5T, the 2.5T has only a partially digital instrument cluster.
Our 2.5T Advanced test car featured leather upholstery and interior trim with a wave-like pattern.
The GV70's rounded rear styling diminishes the cargo area's ability to transport bulky items.
Pricing for the 2.5T model starts at $42,595, with the Advanced trim level commanding $50,745 before options.
