Chevy faces off against the F-150 Lightning with its new electric truck. The high-end RST model will offer 664 horsepower and a 10,000-pound towing capacity.
2024 Chevrolet Silverado RST
The Silverado EV has a horsepower spread from 510 hp for the WT trim to 664 hp for the top-end RST.
Chevy has not yet revealed the range of the base $40,000 WT trim level, though 400 miles of range will be available optionally.
The fully loaded RST trim level (pictured) comes with 24-inch wheels, the largest on any Chevy.
Any similarity to the Chevrolet Avalanche is purely coincidental, according to company representatives.
Chevy’s MultiFlex Midgate lets owners lower the wall separating the cab from the bed in a 60/40 split.
The Silverado EV is approximately the same size as a standard short bed and crew cab Silverado, but the two trucks share no parts.
Expect the truck to be able to reach 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds, according to Chevy.
The MultiFlex tailgate’s six configurations can do things like make the bed easier to access or extend its effective length.
Tow ratings are 8000 pounds for the WT and 10,000 pounds for the RST.
Chevy says the front trunk can accommodate three suitcases.
