The GTS's twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six gains 30 hp and 30 lb-ft of torque for a total of 473 hp and 420 lb-ft thanks to 2.3 psi more boost.

For the first time, the GTS is available with the $5900 fixed-back carbon-fiber bucket seats, long a staple on Porsche's GT cars.

The GTS also gets a new lightweight package that sheds a claimed 55 pounds by ditching the rear seat, using thinner side and rear glass, and swapping in a lithium-ion battery. The package also comes with the rear-axle steering option and adds four degrees to the maximum angle of attack for the rear spoiler.

GTS models wear 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels and tires like the S and 4S models but get standard center-lock wheels. The cars we drove were on Pirelli P Zero PZ4s that have delivered as high as 1.08 g's on the skidpad in our previous testing.

Larger standard brakes are inherited from the 911 Turbo, and even-larger carbon-ceramic discs are an option.
