Updated for the 2021 model year, the V-8-powered GTS remains the driver's choice of Porsche's slow-selling Panamera lineup.
More power and small trim updates highlight the changes to Porsche's latest driver-focused Panamera GTS sports sedan, but they do little to stem the Panamera's waning relevance in the face of increasingly strong alternatives.
The Porsche Panamera received a refresh for 2021 that includes some minor trim differences for the front and rear ends.
The GTS model features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine and is the least expensive way to get a Panamera with eight cylinders.
For 2021, the GTS's V-8 makes 20 additional horsepower for a total of 473 ponies.
As before, the GTS comes standard with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Our test car was painted Carmine Red, which costs $3270 extra.
Inside, the GTS model features generous amounts of faux-suede trim as well as more stretch-out space than in Porsche's electric Taycan sedan.
The GTS starts at $130,650, and our lightly equipped test car stickered for $148,800.
Performance-enhancing options on our example included active anti-roll bars, rear-axle steering, and a torque-vectoring differential.
The Panamera GTS also can be had in a Sport Turismo wagon body style.
Porsche's new electric Taycan model has muscled into the Panamera's market space in terms of pricing and performance, and it looks more attractive to our eyes as well.
