From the Archive: Many of us may not be able to afford the performance car of our dreams, or maybe just can't find a way to work a two-seat sports car into our daily lives. Fortunately, the Ford Mustang LX 5.0 and Probe GT, Honda Prelude Si, Mazda MX-6 GT, Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Turbo, Nissan 240SX SE, Subaru XT6, and Toyota Celica GT-S all are great fun, cost $20,000 or less, and are reasonably practical. We hit the test track and the canyons outside of Los Angeles to figure out which one was best.
