The new larger, higher-tech, and more affordable 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV marks a notable improvement for Chevy's electric subcompact.
As the Chevrolet Bolt EV enters the 2022 model year in second-generation form, it has spawned a crossover-like variant called the Bolt EUV (short for Electric Utility Vehicle). With more interior space than its sibling, the availability of General Motors's hands-free Super Cruise technology, and a lower starting price versus the outgoing Bolt, the EUV is a compelling entry in the small EV segment.

As with the standard 2022 Bolt, the EUV's interior is new and is oriented more towards function than form. Notable features include an 8.0-inch instrument display, a 10.2-inch center touchscreen, and a row of shift buttons on the center console in place of the previous joystick shifter.
Both 2022 Chevy Bolt models—EV and EUV—are based on the previous-generation car's BEV2 platform.
Unlike the standard Bolt, the EUV is available with GM's impressive Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance package. It is available only on the top Premier model as a $2200 option.
The Bolt EUV does not drastically differ from the regular Bolt hatchback, but its additional six inches of overall length do lend it slightly more presence on the road.
At 105.3 inches, the EUV's wheelbase is roughly three inches longer than the Bolt EV's and contributes to a similar increase in rear-seat legroom.
GM estimates the Bolt EUV's range at 250 miles, which is nine miles less than it quotes for the regular model.
Pricing for the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV starts at $33,995, which is $3500 less than the outgoing Bolt hatchback's base price. Super Cruise-equipped models can top $40K.
DC fast-charging capability is standard on both new Bolt models. While their maximum 55-kW charge rate can replenish the EUV with up to 95 in 30 minutes, some competitors can recoup electrons at nearly twice that rate.
Both new Bolt models give their drivers multiple options for regenerative braking, including very little regen by default, an on-demand paddle on the steering wheel that can bring the car to a stop, and full one-pedal operation via a button on the center console that remains active between startup cycles.
