The Mercedes-Benz GLA250 receives a redesign for 2021 complete with cleaner styling and a more practical cabin. It has lost some of its hot-blooded personality in the process, but this more mature second-generation model provides more refinement and is a more compelling package as a result.
A turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four makes 221 horsepower, which is perky enough to get our test car to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds.
Front-wheel drive is standard, but Mercedes-Benz offers its 4Matic all-wheel-drive system as an option.

Our test vehicle came equipped with additional optional tech features such as a wireless smartphone charging pad, customizable interior ambient lighting, and an augmented-reality navigation system.
A panoramic sunroof costs $1500 extra, but seems a worthy option as it provides an open and airy atmosphere inside the cabin.
Mercedes equips the GLA250 with a standard suite of driver-assistance features that includes automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and a driver-attention monitor.
The 2021 GLA250 is all grown up, and the improvements throughout the redesign make it a better SUV that's ready to take on rivals in the small luxury SUV space.
