Few cars draw a crowd like the DB11. Compared with its V-8 brother, the AMR model has a slightly more sinister aesthetic, with a blackened roof, side sills, front splitter, grille, and headlight surrounds.
Although there's no visible rear spoiler, the DB11's C-pillars are functional scoops that draw in air and channel it through the body. The air exits through slits in the decklid, adding downforce.
The new-for-2019 AMR supplants the previous V-12 model as the only 12-cylinder DB11 available. Other versions are powered by a twin-turbo V-8 sourced from Mercedes-AMG.
Aston's V-12 makes big power up and down its rev range, including 516 pound-feet of torque from just 1500 rpm and 630 horsepower at 6500 rpm.
Reinforcing its grand-touring mission, the DB11 AMR can be had with an eight-speed automatic transmission only.

Cast-iron brake rotors are standard on the DB11 AMR. Our example's tacky lime-green-painted calipers are a $3190 option. Thankfully, other colors are available.

There's plenty of fine leather and carbon fiber on the inside of the DB11 AMR, but Aston's small 8.0-inch infotainment system feels dated. There's even a CD slot in the center stack.
