Developing 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, the M264 turbo 2.0-liter inline-four in the E350 also powers Mercedes's GLE350, GLC300, and C300 models. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard.
The E350's engine features a twin-scroll turbocharger and a redesigned intake manifold, both of which act to reduce lag and improve response.
Low- and mid-range acceleration feels especially stronger in the E350 versus the outgoing, 241-hp E300 model.
Mercedes's 4Matic all-wheel-drive system is a $2500 option on the E350.
Despite the modest output of its new engine, the E350 is as serene and solid as a mid-size luxury car can be.
The refreshed 2021 E-class will replace the current car's dated COMAND Touch infotainment system and its rotary control knob with Benz's latest MBUX system, which features a touchpad interface and an often intrusive voice-activated assistant.
Rear legroom in the E-class is generous and accommodating. Three-zone climate control, heated rear seats, and a powered rear sunshade are optional.
Our E350 4Matic sedan came reasonably equipped with options that inflated its $57,545 base price to $62,895.
