Audi's updated soft-top supercar may not be the quickest of its kind, but it looks a little sharper now, its V-10 still roars, and it remains impressively civilized.

Since 2008, Audi has sold about 10,000 R8 models. It currently sells about 1000 a year with an even split between coupes and convertibles.
Although we prefer the softer ride and adaptive dampers of the starter V10 model, the updated R8 Spyder Performance remains a comfortable and usable everyday supercar.
The operation of the Audi R8 Spyder's convertible soft top is slick, stowing above the engine under a hard cover in about 20 seconds.
For 2020, R8 models get a more angular front end with a wider honeycomb grille, as well as redesigned rocker covers that visually lower the car.
Unlike most performance cars at this level, the R8's front spoiler doesn't try to tear itself off on every driveway and speed bump.
The Audi R8's reshaped rear bumper better accentuates its width. Additional honeycomb air outlets now run uninterrupted across its tail over a larger rear diffuser and are bookended by gargantuan oval exhaust pipes.
Shared with the Lamborghini Huracán Evo, the R8's naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-10 comes on strong above 4000 rpm and revs quickly to its 8800-rpm redline.
The entry-level 2020 R8 gets an increase of 30 horsepower for a total of 562, while the R8 Performance still packs 602 horses.
Like more convertibles, the Audi R8 Spyder looks best with its top down.
There are new wheels, cut with a more complex angular pattern. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard on Performance models, and every R8 switches from Pirelli to Michelin summer tires.
