The 2020 Cadillac XT5 is the brand's best-selling vehicle and receives a host of modest, if meaningful, updates for the new model year. What the changes don't do is significantly alter the mid-size luxury SUV's reserved character.
A black mesh grille is specific to the XT5's top Sport trim, as are standard 20-inch wheels. Lesser Luxury and Premium Luxury models get standard 18-inchers with 20s as an option.
Among the improvements to the XT5's interior are newly standard heated seats, a redesigned center console, and more interior color and trim options.
An 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard and has updated software and a new rotary knob control this year. Navigation costs extra.

The XT5's Luxury and Premium Luxury trims received suspension updates for 2020 that aim to improve ride quality. The Sport trim features adaptive dampers and a quicker steering ratio than the Luxury models.
The XT5 shares much of its design language with the smaller XT4, which is another of Cadillac's more popular models.
A 310-hp 3.6-liter V-6 is standard on the XT5 Sport and a $1000 option on other trim levels. Combined with a new nine-speed automatic transmission that replaces the previous eight-speed unit, the pushed our Sport test vehicle to 60 mph in a respectable 6.1 seconds.

The XT5's two-row layout provides 30 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats.
