The 2020 BMW X5 M50i is an all-wheel-drive performance-oriented version of BMW's mid-size luxury SUV that, while not as wild as the full-tilt X5 M model, is both luxurious and capable enough to impress even discerning buyers. Read the full story here.
The X5 M50i comes standard with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine that makes 523 horsepower. ZF's eight-speed automatic is the only transmission choice.
The M50i model sits above the standard X5 40i and 50i models and below the high-performance X5 M and X5 M Competition.
Though it's not a full M model like the X5 M, the M50i features a more aggressive exterior design versus lesser X5s and benefits from some chassis upgrades.
Our test vehicle was finished in an attractive Tanzanite Blue II metallic, a $1950 option.
Our example's 22-inch wheels wrapped in a staggered summer-tire setup cost an additional $1900.
The M50i has the same rich interior as the standard X5, offering lots of space and advanced technology features.
Unlike the non-M models, the X5 M50i is not available with an optional third-row seat.
However, there is a similar M50i version available for the slightly larger BMW X7, which does offer standard third-row seating.
The M50i starts at $83,145, but our example was loaded up with lots of options and stickered for $97,445.
