Replacing the Slingshot's previous General Motors 2.4-liter inline-four is a new Polaris-developed four that produces up to 203 horsepower and up to 144 lb-ft of torque.
Managing the Slingshot's increased power is a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional five-speed automated manual called AutoDrive. We found the latter unit to be a great reason for learning to drive a stick.

Polaris claims that the top-spec Slingshot R model can get to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
The first Slingshot debuted in 2015 and required frequent steering corrections to follow a straight line. In contrast, the 2020 model tracks straight and takes a confident set in corners.
The 2020 Polaris Slingshot may look like a toy, but it's not really priced like one. The base SL model starts at $26,499, and the more powerful R variant costs at least $30,999.
At least Polaris has upgraded the Slingshot's interior with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless ignition, touchscreen infotainment with navigation, a Rockford Fosgate audio system.
