Starting with a luxurious, long-roof V60 wagon, the engineers drop in the T8 powertrain, which combines a turbo- and supercharged four-cylinder with an electric motor for 415 horsepower.
All-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic are standard, and performance is brisk, with 60 mph arriving in an eye-opening 4.4 seconds.
On the street, the V60 T8 Polestar feels quick and agile, but the ride is firm, and the power delivery is uneven in the handoff between electric and gasoline power.
Standard Öhlins dampers are manually adjusted by turning the gold nubs protruding from the top of the shock towers.
The exterior styling is just as handsome as the non-Polestar V60, but gold brake calipers, unique wheels, and subtle Polestar logos give this performance model a subtly distinct look.
Inside the V60's spacious cabin, sport seats and yellow seatbelts are the major indicators that this car is any different from the standard V60.
In addition to blasting quickly to high speeds, the T8 powertrain also provides good fuel economy and an achievable 22 miles of electric-only driving range.
We managed just over 21 miles on electric power at 75 mph before the gasoline engine fired up. During the rest of our 200-mile highway fuel economy test route, we managed 31 mpg.
Few wagons, especially at the Polestar's $68,295 price are as exciting or as quick as the V60 T8 Polestar.
