The Taycan 4S is the starter model of the Taycan lineup, slotting below the Turbo and Turbo S models with a $105,150 base price.
The dual-motor, all-wheel-drive 4S shares its same front-axle motor with the Turbo models but employs a slightly less powerful rear motor.
Our time in Finland showed the Taycan 4S to be highly capable of getting very sideways.
While not as quick as the Turbo models, the Taycan should be able to reach 60 mph in less than 4.0 seconds.
The Taycan 4S's handling responses are bolstered by a limited-slip rear differential, brake-based torque vectoring, and four-wheel steering.
Unlike a Tesla, Porsche does not imbue the Taycan models with substantial energy regeneration when you lift off the accelerator.
The 4S's standard 79.2-kWh battery is good for a peak output of 429 horsepower for 10 seconds and 522 horses for 2.5 seconds when using the overboost function.
With the optional Performance Battery Plus option, the 4S's battery swells to a 93.4-kWh capacity that is good for a peak output of 483 horsepower for 10 seconds and 563 horses on overboost.
