The sole engine choice for the 2020 Titan is its familiar 5.6-liter V-8. Small improvements have upped its output to 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, increases of 10 and 19, respectively.
Replacing the previous Jatco-sourced seven-speed automatic as the truck's only transmission choice is the supplier's new nine-speed unit.
A simplified model lineup for 2020 sees the Titan come in just two flavors: an extended cab (king cab in Nissan-speak) with rear-opening half doors or a 6.5-foot cargo bed and a full crew cab with a shorter 5.5-foot box.
The 2020 Titan model range starts with the base S trim and moves to the SV, the off-road-oriented Pro-4X, and on to the crew-cab-only SL and Platinum Reserve.
The updated Titan can tow a maximum of 9370 pounds or haul up to 1680 pounds in its cargo bed.
The 2020 Titan comes with a segment-best, five-year/100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.
Aside from the updates to its powertrain, much of the Titan's mechanicals carry over from 2019, which means it drives and handles pretty much the same as before.
While the updated Titan rides reasonably smooth when empty, it lacks the refinement and overall ride comfort over rough surfaces of newer half-ton pickups.
Notable technology updates for 2020 include a new 7.0-inch display in the instrument cluster, as well as a standard 8.0-inch central touchscreen that can be upgraded to a vibrant 9.0-inch unit.
The Titan's list of active-safety and driver-assistance features improves with standard driver aids such as lane-departure warning and rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, along with optional helpers such as a driver attention monitor and adaptive cruise control.
