Sharing its mechanicals with the X5 M50i, the X6 M50i is powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine that develops 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque.
Every new BMW X6 M50i gets all-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and upgraded M Sport braking hardware.
The new X6 is slightly larger than before and offers a slight increase in cargo volume versus its predecessor.
Prices for the 2020 BMW X6 M50i start at $86,645, which is nearly $20K more than the 335-hp xDrive40i powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six.
As you'd expect, the redesigned X6 shares much of its impeccably finished and highly comfortable interior with the latest BMW X5.
BMW's front seats are wide and soft but supportive. They're also heated, 20-way power adjustable, and the Luxury Seating package adds massage and ventilation functions.
Two huge 12.3-inch display screens dominate the SUV's dashboard. Our test vehicle also featured BMW's optional Glass Controls package that adds crystal detailing to the electronic shift lever, iDrive Controller, and engine start button.
The X6's optional Dynamic Handling package adds Integral Active Steering, which turns the rear wheels in the same direction of the front tires up to four degrees to sharpen cornering responses, as well as BMW's Active Roll Stabilization system that essentially eliminates body roll in corners.
