All four of the Caravel models—the lineup includes 16-, 19-, 20-, and 22-foot-long models—are easy to tow behind most mid-size SUVs.
Our test camper was the smallest, 16-foot model. It's the only one in the lineup with wraparound windows at both the front and the rear.
We towed the Caravel behind our long-term Subaru Ascent but only averaged 9 mpg while doing so.
The trailer's short length makes it easy to reverse into a parking space or campsite, even with a novice trailer driver at the wheel.
Airstream equips the Caravel with air-conditioning, a gas-fired furnace, and an electric heat pump, so no matter what weather you're camping in, the cabin stays comfortable.
Other amenities include an electric mini fridge, microwave, an integrated Bluetooth stereo system, a flat-screen TV with a roof-mounted antenna and cable TV hookups, and indoor and outdoor showers.
With the blinds open, the interior feels open and airy. With them closed at night, the camper feels nice and cozy.
We camped at Grand Haven State Park in Grand Haven, Michigan, on one of Lake Michigan's beautiful, sandy beaches.
Storage inside the trailer is plentiful for a weekend excursion, but those seeking to stay away from home longer will appreciate the large storage locker on the back of the trailer.
Our model came loaded with both the 90-watt Solar package ($1700) and Rear and Roadside Window Awning package ($1350) for a total as-tested price of $65,284.
