Similar to the previous RS7, the new model employs Audi's wonderful twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, tuned here to make 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.
The all-wheel-drive RS7's drivetrain consists of an eight-speed automatic, limited-slip center differential, and an optional torque-vectoring rear diff.
Thanks to a 1.7-inch wider body, the RS7's stance is menacing, especially on its optional 22-inch wheels.
While we're not as in love with Audi's latest design for the A7's body, there's no denying that the RS7 looks stunning on the road.
The RS7's optional Dynamic Ride Control suspension setup, which will be offered in the States as a stand-alone option, consists of steel springs and adaptive dampers that are linked in a diagonal arrangement to better control pitch and roll.
On the generally smooth roads of Germany where we drove the new RS7, we were impressed with its wheel control, fluid handling, and agreeable ride quality for something this capable.
The RS7's standard air springs and adaptive dampers provide an impressive bandwidth of comfort and capability.
Upgrades to the RS7's V-8 include new turbos and a 48-volt starter/alternator that allows the engine to shut off more frequently to save fuel.
As with Audi's other latest products, the RS7's infotainment interface includes a pair of haptic touchscreens that, while highly functional, can be a little fussy in operation until you're acclimated to them.
As capable and attractive as the new RS7 is, we'd have trouble choosing over the closely related RS6 Avant wagon, which Audi confirmed is heading to the U.S.
