The Nürburgring shuttle is powered by a sweet 335-hp turbocharged inline-6 or a beefy 456-hp twin-turbo V-8.
The X7 rides like a taller and squishier 7-series. The Sport mode tightens the standard adaptive dampers and reduces much of the excess body roll, and it feels like it should be base setting.

The M Sport brakes stop the V-8 powered 50i to from 70 mph in 169 feet, but we'd skip the $650 binders which are hypersensitive and difficult to smoothly operate in stop-and-go commuting.

The $3700 blue-and-ivory interior in our 50i test vehicle is an impressively upscale combo. The 20-way-adjustable multicontour front seats, with that all-important articulating backrest to dial in the perfect fit, are among the best in the business.
With the third-row upright, the cargo volume dwindles to 12 cubic feet.
The digital gauge cluster, HVAC controls, and center-console switchgear looks great is lesser costing vehicles in the brands lineup. But in a BMW costing $80,000 or more, the bits don't feel sufficiently special.
