As with the DBS coupe, the DBS Volante packs a twin-turbo 5.2-liter V-12 good for 715 horsepower.
Aston says the DBS Volante's 211-mph top speed makes it the fastest production convertible in its history.
With a starting price of about $335,000, the DBS Volante is not for the faint of heart or thin of wallet.
Aston's DBS models share much of their structure with lesser DB11 versions that make do with a Mercedes-AMG–sourced 4.0-liter V-8.
All Aston DBS models feature a ZF eight-speed automatic transaxle and rear-wheel drive.
Aston says the slightly heavier DBS Volante should be nearly as quick as the coupe, eclipsing 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.
The DBS Volante can reach its top speed with its top up or down.
Although it technically is a 2+2, the DBS's minuscule rear seats work better as glorified package shelves.
While properly luxurious, the DBS Volante's cabin is not markedly fancier than its lesser DB11 siblings.
With its top up, the DBS Volante provides just seven cubic feet of cargo space, three cubes less than the coupe. Drop the top, and that figure falls to six cubic feet.
