Chevy adds more cooling capacity to its diesel engine and an all-new 6.6-liter gas engine to the Silverado HD line.
Two powertrains are available in the 2020 Silverado 2500 and 3500 HD models, a new 6.6-liter gas V-8 and a 6.6-liter diesel V-8 with additional cooling capability. The diesel is coupled to a 10-speed Allison transmission as standard equipment. Max towing is increased by a massive 52 percent in the diesel, while the new gas engine bumps max towing 18 percent.

The Silverado's diesel after-run feature will restart the engine if it's shut off when hot, idling for up to another 15 minutes to cool down.
