Easily among the best-looking performance SUVs, the SVR is distinguished from less F-Pace models by larger outboard front air intakes, simple body-side extensions, model-specific wheel-arch trim, and a smoother rear bumper.
Boasting 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque from its supercharged 5.0-liter V-8, the Jaguar F-Pace SVR is certainly potent, but falls short of some competitors.
Helping to propel 4655 pounds of SUV to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, the SVR's revised all-wheel-drive system has a stronger bias toward the rear axle than in the standard F-Pace.
F-Pace SVRs that we drove first in Europe were equipped with high-performance summer-only tires, but standard kit in America is less-grippy all-weather, sacrificing both cornering and braking performance on the altars of convenience and cost.
The Jaguar F-Pace SVR stopped from 70 mph in 174-feet and generated 0.85 g of grip on our skidpad, both figures being inferior to those of competitive SUVs running high-performance tires instead of all-seasons.
Ride quality is smooth and easily absorbs even rough pavement, testimony to Jaguar's wisdom in tuning the suspension for road use more than race track antics.
Comfortably bolstered sport seats wear quilted leather and contrast stitching enhances the SVR's cabin.
Driven hard, the Jaguar F-Pace SVR test car returned an overall average of 16 mpg, but at a steady 75 mph on the highway, it went 24 miles for every gallon, or 3 mpg better than its EPA highway estimate.
Pricing on the 2019 Jaguar F-Pace SVR starts at $81,015 and the as-tested example's optional equipment brought the bottom line to $89,900.
