Take One Last Look at the 2019 Ford F-series Super Duty Before It's Updated for 2020
Ford's heavy-duty workhorse continues to offer brutish power and generous payload ratings on the eve of its replacement.
Ford's F-series Super Duty—that is Ford-speak for heavy-duty pickup—stands mighty above the light-duty, full-size F-150 in size and capability. It also has been in service in its current form for quite some time, which is why next year a freshened 2020 F-series Super Duty hits the market. The updated truck will have more powerful engines and offer greater capabilities. Before it gets here, catch up on what makes the 2019 model tick by swiping through these photos:
Like its competitors, the Super Duty can be optioned to the hilt. Pictured here is the pricey Limited trim, which brings chrome exterior trim, flashy wheels, and those great big C-shaped LED running lights.
Inside, the richly appointed Super Duty Limited pampers with leather seats, automatic climate control, a large touchscreen, and more. But every Super Duty's dashboard—even on the plasticky, low-trim models—benefits from a clean, ergonomic control layout.
Limited models also receive this fancy badge on their front armrests, which call out that the truck is, in fact, a Limited, and also lists the VIN.

A dualie rear axle is available, upping the F-series Super Duty's tire count to six.
When behind the wheel of a Super Duty, you likely won't forget that you're piloting something the size of a tiny house. Still, these big brutes are surprisingly maneuverable, even if their ride quality remains stiff and bouncy in the service of heroic towing duties.
Speaking of those towing capabilities, the Super Duty can tow up to 21,000 pounds via a conventional hitch, or up to 35,000 pounds via a gooseneck trailer coupling.
A 385-hp, gasoline-fueled 6.2-liter V-8 is standard, while a 450-hp Power Stroke diesel V-8 (with 935 lb-ft of torque) is optional.
The F-250 model can be had with the latest and greatest driver-assistance technologies, including automated emergency braking and useful towing assists such as blind-spot monitoring that takes a trailer into account.
Buyers can specify their Super Duty trucks with a two-door regular cab, four-door extended cab (seen here, with backwards-swinging rear doors), or a four-door crew cab with full-size doors front and rear.
