With 33 10Best Cars awards, the Honda Accord is one of our favorite vehicles for a reason. The 10th-generation model was redesigned and reengineered for 2018, and this 2.0T EX-L model charmed us right away.
Although we're still fans of the Accord's standard 192-hp 1.5-liter turbo engine and the optional hybrid setup, we couldn't turn down the 252 horsepower from the optional turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four.
Opting for the Accord's EX-L trim level instead of the Sport meant we had to pass on a six-speed manual transmission, but its 10-speed automatic that most buyers will choose proved to be a decent enough alternative.
Just a family sedan, eh? Maybe so, but our Accord 2.0T automatic bolted to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds on its first trip to the track and covered the quarter-mile in 14.3 seconds at 100 mph.
Regular maintenance costs for our Accord EX-L amounted to a quite reasonable $606 over 40,000 miles.
Long-haul-friendly seats make the 10th-gen Accord an accomplished road tripper.
The same can be said for its capacious rear quarters.
We wish Honda would come up with a better shifter arrangement than the Accord's clumsy push buttons, but the car's cabin otherwise drew near-universal praise.
Simple, effective, and attractive instrumentation remains an Accord hallmark.
Honda's latest infotainment system and nicely tactile switchgear further bolsters the Accord's overall appeal.
With 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, the Accord 2.0T never feels out of breath on the road.
