Kia's mid-size SUV is getting a redesign, and it looks sharp.
This is the newest version of Kia's mid-size Sorento SUV. Its redesign is attractive inside and out, with a modern-looking, squared-off design and plush materials inside. It will also offer new engines and hybrid variants for the first time. The new Sorento should arrive in the U.S. sometime in late 2020 as a 2021 model after making its official debut for the European market in March.
Kia has been working hard to introduce bold styling across its entire lineup, and the Sorento is no exception. While it's not as radical as its big sibling the Telluride, the new model looks modern and handsome.
The Sorento is slightly larger than before, with a 1.4-inch wheelbase stretch and an 0.4-inch increase in overall length.
While the Sorento's overall shape isn't wildly different from its predecessor's, there are some interesting new design touches such as the futuristic two-bar LED taillights.
We dig the looks of the new Sorento's cabin, which looks rich for a mainstream mid-size SUV. The quilted leather trim is nice, and the dashboard layout incorporates interestingly shaped air vents.
A third row seat will be available, like in the previous Sorento, providing seating capacity for seven.
A hybrid version of the Sorento will be offered for the first time. It uses a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four mated with a 59-hp electric motor. Total power output is 227 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
