See the 2020 Chevy Corvette C8 Driving on the Road Undisguised
Our spy photographers caught two different versions of the C8 out on the road with no camouflage for the first time.
Not even 24 hours after the reveal of the mid-engined 2020 Chevy Corvette C8, our spy photographers have gotten the first shots of the new Vette driving on real roads completely undisguised. Two different versions of the Corvette were spied: a blue Z51 package car with the targa roof removed, and a gray base model with the roof on. These two C8s give us our first look at some of the C8's new color and trim options as well as a better feel for how it actually looks in real life.
The first of the two C8s is this Z51-package model painted in Rapid Blue, a new color for the Corvette.
It's equipped with the open-spoke wheel design in the Carbon Flash color, with additional exterior trim pieces also finished in Carbon Flash.
This is the first time we have seen the C8 on the road with the roof off; even in previous spy photos of the new Vette in camo, Chevy always kept the roof on to maintain secrecy.
The rear wing is part of the Z51 package and comes in multiple colors, matching other parts of the exterior like the side-scoop garnish.
The targa roof has to be manually removed and stows in the cargo compartment aft of the engine. For more of an open-air feel, a convertible model is coming soon.
This second C8 is painted in Shadow Gray, which was a color also offered on the C7. The interior is the shockingly bright Two-Tone Blue.
Given the lack of front splitter and rear wing, this is a base car without the Z51 package.
On this C8 the removable targa panel has the body-color finish, but either a carbon-fiber finish or a transparent center section is available.
The C8 is offered with two different wheel designs in three finishes each; both options are sized 19 inches in front and 20 inches in the rear.
The base car has smaller brakes than what the Z51 package adds, but no matter the spec, the calipers can be finished in a choice of colors.
Every C8 will have a glass engine cover, and the engine itself can be painted red or silver instead of the standard black.
The lack of exterior badging is likely due to these C8s being prototypes. The production cars will have the choice of badges with either a chrome or Carbon Flash finish.
