• BMW appears to have accidentally published information about its 2027 lineup on its U.S. website, as reported by Motor1.
  • The leaked list of new models includes an all-wheel-drive M2 xDrive, confirming a rumor that first appeared last year.
  • BMW also appears to be launching a new iX4 coupe-like electric SUV, along with the i3 sedan and an electric version of the new X5.

UPDATE 2/27/26, 1:10 p.m.: This story has been updated with a statement from BMW.

Automakers typically hold their cards close to their chests until they're ready to start teasing a new model, but BMW seems to have accidentally shown its hand a bit too early. As reported by Motor1, the German automaker appears to have mistakenly posted its 2027 lineup of U.S.-bound vehicles, some of which haven't yet been revealed. While the list has since been taken down, Motor1 managed to capture BMW's leaked 2027 lineup, giving us a roadmap for what the brand has in store for this year.

None of the models listed are big surprises, but the leaked information confirms the timing of several key moves for the automaker. It's also likely that this is not a comprehensive list of every trim level BMW has planned. When asked for comment, a BMW spokesperson simply said, "As a matter of policy, we do not comment on future product availability."

First up is the BMW M2, the brand's fiery little sports car that secured a spot on Car and Driver's 10Best Cars list for 2026 thanks to its lithe chassis and potent engine. The M2 has always come exclusively with rear-wheel drive and is the only remaining full-fledged M car without all-wheel drive, but that is set to change for 2027. The leaked list shows that BMW is gearing up to launch the M2 xDrive, confirming a rumor that first popped up last summer. We don't yet know whether the all-wheel-drive M2 will offer both the eight-speed automatic and the six-speed manual, but we expect the latter to at least stick around on the rear-wheel-drive model for the next couple of years.

Moving up in size, BMW will release the 2027 i3 electric sedan as a counterpart to the gas-powered 3-series. The latter will receive a refresh to keep it visually in line with BMW's latest design language, and the leaked list included an M350 xDrive, which seems like a replacement for the M340i, and potentially indicates that the mid-tier M car will drop the option of rear-wheel drive. The electric i3, which BMW has already teased in camouflaged photos, will be offered in two all-wheel-drive trims, the i3 40 xDrive and the i3 50 xDrive, which will likely share powertrains with the iX3 SUV.

Just a few days ago, we covered a report that BMW was readying a coupe-ified version of the new iX3, and the leak confirmed the presence of a new iX4. The replacement for the X4 will come exclusively as an EV and will be offered as either the iX4 40 xDrive or the iX4 50 xDrive, mirroring the two top trims of the iX3.

BMW will also launch a next-generation X5, which appears to be arriving with both gas and EV powertrains. The gas model was listed as the X5 40 sDrive, implying a rear-wheel-drive setup, while the electric variant is listed as the iX5 60 xDrive. We expect both the gas and electric X5s to offer more trims and powertrains than what is listed here. Lastly, the 7 series will also undergo a refresh, with the model dubbed the 740i xDrive. More information on these models should emerge over the next several months as BMW overhauls its lineup for 2027.
