- The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has been updated with a new front-end design and lineup changes intended to make more sense to customers.
- The Wagoneer moniker is gone, as all models are now Grand Wagoneers, and Jeep plans to offer a plug-in hybrid Grand Wagoneer sometime next year.
- Jeep's full-size three-row SUV will start at $64,740 when it goes on sale later this year, but its price can rise to over $95K for the top-of-the-line trim.
Jeep is making some big changes to its biggest SUV, namely ensuring that the entire lineup has the same name. Previously, the brand's full-size three-row SUV was available as the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, with the latter positioned as the ritzier version. Not only did that confuse some of its customers, but Jeep says trim names like Series I, Series II, and Series III further fueled that confusion. That changes with the 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, which absorbs the more mainstream Wagoneer and finally adopts Jeep branding, as prior models were purposefully missing any such badges.

A Better Looking Grand Wagoneer
Styling is subjective, but we doubt anyone would fight us for calling the pre-facelifted Grand Wagoneer fugly. While the updated models still won't win first place in a beauty pageant, their new front ends are more fetching. Jeep says it made the overall design squarer and introduced new headlights that sit higher than before. They also incorporate full-width LED elements, and the taillights receive a similar treatment. The Grand Wagoneer's redesigned grille is narrower, and its hallmark seven slots are illuminated like on the electric Wagoneer S. As we mentioned earlier, you'll now find Jeep badges proudly affixed to the SUV's front and rear ends. Something you won't find is chrome exterior trim, as Jeep has ditched the traditional molding in favor of more sustainable materials, which is fine by us, considering chrome is about as cool as wearing cargo shorts.
Just like before, the Grand Wagoneer offers two wheelbase choices, with the "L" models featuring the longer platform. Customers can also choose between rear- or four-wheel drive, but there will only be one engine option, at least initially. Every '26 Grand Wagoneer will come standard with the familiar Hurricane turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, which musters 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque. The higher-output version (540 hp, 521 pound-feet) is being put on hiatus, but that's partly because Jeep plans to introduce a range-extended EV variant, which is technically a series plug-in hybrid.
The First Grand Wagoneer PHEV
When the Grand Wagoneer "REEV"—thankfully, that name is merely a placeholder until Jeep thinks of something better—joins the party sometime next year, it will share a powertrain with the Ram 1500 REV, which was known as the Ramcharger when it was first revealed. The setup features a gas-fed Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 that acts as a generator to power the dual electric motors, which send an estimated 647 horsepower and 620 pound-feet to all four wheels. That'll shove the hefty SUV to 60 mph in a claimed 5.0 seconds.
You'll also never have to stress about its 92-kWh battery running out of juice thanks to the onboard gas generator, and Jeep is claiming a combined driving range of over 500 miles on a full tank of gas. Should you want to run in EV-only mode, Jeep is estimating the plug-in hybrid Grand Wagoneer will have around 150 miles of pure-electric range.
Inside, Jeep didn't feel the need to make any significant changes. Instead, it now offers more color choices and new materials, which include real open-pore wood called Dark Waxed Walnut. However, that's reserved for the fanciest Summit Reserve trim, which also includes a 23-speaker McIntosh sound system, ventilated rear seats, and a touchscreen just for the front passenger. Those who opt for the Limited trim get a McIntosh stereo with 19 speakers as well as a panoramic sunroof, power-operated side steps, and a head-up display. The latter is also improved versus its predecessors, with Jeep saying the field of view is notably larger and the virtual image distance is much better.
How Much Will This Thing Cost?
The bigger the car, the bigger the price tag. So it makes sense that full-size SUVs such as the Grand Wagoneer are among the most expensive new models on the market. Jeep knows this and said it wants its updated full-sizer to be more competitively priced with rivals. With a $64,740 starting price, the 2026 Grand Wagonner is positioned between the Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition. Those who want their three-row Jeep with four-wheel drive will have to pay at least $67,740. Then there's the better-equipped Limited Altitude and Summit Obsidian that start at $73,735 and $95,985, respectively. Every Grand Wagoneer trim can also be had with a longer wheelbase, but these L configurations add $3000 to the bottom line.
Jeep says production of the Hurricane-powered 2026 Grand Wagoneer models will begin later this year at its assembly plant in Warren, Michigan. The plug-in hybrid variants will eventually be built alongside their gas-fed brethren, but a final production timeline hasn't yet been set, so stay tuned.
