Sure, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is already prepared to have you grinning from ear to ear, but who ever turned down more fun? Now, as part of the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, Hyundai collaborated with Japanese drifting legend Keiichi Tsuchiya, also known as "Drift King," for a special edition of the sporty EV.
Aptly named the Ioniq 5 N DK Edition, the drift version is billed as an "exclusive N performance parts package." The DK Edition's21-inch forged aluminum wheels add width (and grip) but cut back on nearly 24 pounds of weight. A new set of six-piston brakes sits behind the wheels and offers a 54 percent increase in pad area to improve stopping power and longevity. A new set of lowering springs drops the car by 0.6 inch. According to Hyundai, the springs were developed to work seamlessly with the Ioniq 5 N’s electronically controlled suspension system.

Then there's the bodywork, starting with a rather conspicuous carbon-fiber wing at the rear of the car. A matching carbon diffuser sits below the wing, with carbon side skirts running all the way up to an equally high-visibility front splitter. All told, the extra bodywork is said to add 205 pounds of downforce to the DK Edition at 87 mph.
Assuming the powertrain is unchanged from the standard car, the DK Edition produces the same 641 ponies as the standard 5 N (at least with the N Grin Boost feature activated). While the all-wheel-drive system can send power to the front or rear depending on the driver's preference, there's also a dedicated drift mode that we think will get a lot of use on the DK version.
Unfortunately, the DK Edition doesn't appear to be coming to North America. According to Hyundai, the special edition will launch in Japan and Korea in 2025, with pricing info to be announced sometime before it goes on sale.
