• The 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V will be the brand's first electric V-series model.
  • The all-wheel-drive Lyriq-V could make 595 horsepower or more.
  • Few other details were revealed, but we know it will arrive early next year.

While Cadillac's V-series performance cars have been revered for their monstrous engines and engaging manual gearboxes, the brand's future is electric. Earlier this year, it teased what an electric performance car could look like with the fantastical Opulent Velocity concept. Now, the automaker has announced the 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V, the first electric vehicle to wear the brand's vaunted V-series badge.

Cadillac didn't quote any performance figures for the Lyriq-V, but it said every electric V-series model will come standard with all-wheel drive. That means at least two electric motors. Since the dual-motor Lyriq already produces exactly 500 horsepower, we expect the V-rated version to exceed that figure. The Caddy shares a platform with the Chevy Blazer SS, which makes 595 horsepower, so we think that's the bogey for the mightiest Lyriq. Of course, it could be even higher because Cadillac has more cachet than Chevy.

No official photos were released, but the video above shows off the Lyriq-V's design. The changes to the V variant are subtle compared with the regular Lyriq. The illuminated "grille" has a new pattern, and there's a revised vent in the lower bumper. Along with the obligatory V badge, the sportiest Lyriq also wears darkened trim along the lower edge of the doors. We spotted Brembo brakes hiding behind sporty-looking wheels, and the steering wheel features a specific V-branded button that likely unlocks extra performance.

More details should arrive in the next few months before the Lyriq-V launches early next year. It will be offered in both left-hand- and right-hand-drive markets, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
