Hyundai's mid-size crossover, the Santa Fe, is getting a new look for 2021. A teaser photo shows the SUV's new front end which features different lighting elements, a more aggressive-looking grille, and a reshaped hood. The refreshed Santa Fe is also sure to get a few new tech features and interior revisions.
Formerly called the Santa Fe Sport, the current generation of this SUV arrived for 2019 and sits between the compact Tucson and the three-row Palisade in Hyundai's lineup. We don't anticipate the updated Santa Fe will get any major powertrain changes; currently available engines include a 184-hp, 2.4-liter inline-four and a 235-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four. Front- and all-wheel-drive versions are available.
Hyundai should share more official information about the 2021 Santa Fe soon, and this updated model is likely to go on sale in the U.S. by the end of 2020.
Despite being raised on a steady diet of base-model Hondas and Toyotas—or perhaps because of it—Joey Capparella nonetheless cultivated an obsession for the automotive industry throughout his childhood in Nashville, Tennessee. He found a way to write about cars for the school newspaper during his college years at Rice University, which eventually led him to move to Ann Arbor, Michigan, for his first professional auto-writing gig at Automobile Magazine. He has been part of the Car and Driver team since 2016 and now lives in New York City.
