The hybrid version of the 2020 Hyundai Sonata slots in between its closest rivals, the Honda Accord hybrid and Toyota Camry hybrid in terms of price, being more expensive than the Honda but cheaper than the Toyota. The Hyundai starts at $28,725 for its base Blue trim level and ranges up to $36,675 for the better-equipped Limited model.

The base Sonata hybrid Blue is the most efficient version, rated at 52 mpg combined. The $30,875 hybrid SEL adds equipment such as a power front seats and a premium audio system; it and the Limited are rated at a lower 47 mpg combined according to the EPA. The Blue model is $4150 more expensive than the base nonhybrid Sonata SE, while the hybrid SEL is $4200 more than the nonhybrid SEL and the hybrid Limited is $2200 costlier than the nonhybrid.

All Sonata hybrids are powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four gas engine and a 51-hp electric motor that combine to make 192 hp. Certain desirable features such as leather seats, a 10.3-inch infotainment display, and solar panels in the roof are offered only on the Limited model.

Hyundai says Sonata hybrids will start arriving at U.S. dealerships in June.
