Volkswagen plans to kick off its much ballyhooed electrification strategy in the United States with the I.D. Crozz, the brand’s first dedicated EV. Now we’ve recently learned that the model will come in two body styles, and the version previewed by the concept car (pictured above) will not be the first one to arrive.

Speaking at the Chicago auto show, VW’s head of design, Klaus Bischoff, indicated that the I.D. Crozz will first come to market in 2020 as a traditional SUV, followed later by a fastback similar to the concept car.

It’s possible that we’ll get a concept preview of the SUV-shaped I.D. Crozz, and we might not have long to wait for it. It’s rumored that VW will roll out another I.D. Crozz concept next month at the Geneva auto show.
