We first published driving impressions of the Axxess in our April 1989 issue, and found the little runabout to be pleasant enough. The van’s 2.4-liter four was borrowed from the far sportier 240SX coupe—though detuned slightly—and all-wheel drive was available, too. Perhaps the Axxess’s most notable feature, or rather, features, were its dual sliding rear doors, which weren’t common in early ’90s minivans.
Name That Shifter, No. 126: 1990 Nissan Axxess

On Monday, we presented this week’s shifter and asked you to identify the make and model of the vehicle whence it came. Although several of you came close with guesses that the shifter belongs to a 1990s-era Japanese car, no one correctly identified it. The stick is in fact from a 1990 Nissan Axxess van.
