It’s hard to believe that the Porsche Cayenne is already six years into its second generation, but it is, and to keep attracting customers—especially with a leaner, fresher Macan in the same showroom—Porsche has announced new Platinum special edition models of the base Cayenne and the Cayenne S E-Hybrid.

As with the 2014 Cayenne Platinum special editions, no actual platinum is included with the fitments, but there’s plenty of valuable stuff nonetheless, including 20-unch RS Spyder wheels, wheel-arch extensions, bixenon dynamic headlamps, and front and rear park assist with surround-view graphics. Gloss black trim outlines dark tinted windows, and anti-glare exterior mirrors are fitted to the driver and passenger doors.

Inside, the Platinum models get eight-way power seats with microsuede center sections and embossed Porsche crests on the headrests, as well as navigation, and Bose surround-sound audio.

Solid white or black paint comes standard, but customers can spec Jet Black, Mahogany, Carrera White, Rhodium Silver, or Purpurite for a price. Speaking of price, the base Cayenne Platinum, with its 300-hp V-6, stickers for $66,650, while the tab for a 416-hp Cayenne S E-Hybrid model is $82,650. Both figures are actually reasonably good values when you consider what the included features cost separately. Watch for the new models to arrive in Porsche showrooms later this year.
