One could successfully argue that every Ferrari is special, but a report in Automotive News confirms that Ferrari will celebrate its 70th birthday by building 70 special editions of each of its cars, including the 488 coupe and spider, the California T, the GTC4Lusso, and the F12Berlinetta. Note that the list doesn’t include the LaFerrari hypercar, production of which ends this year once the Spider versions have been delivered.

The report provided no details about how the 350 special-edition steeds will be distributed among the world’s markets or how the cars will be made even more special than the typical Ferrari. Looking back a couple of years to 2014, Ferrari built a batch of 10 decadent, $2.5 million F60 Americas for its 60th anniversary in the United States, cars that touted the Maranello-based company’s return to custom coachbuilding. While we’re doubting these upcoming models will be as differentiated as those cars, it’s likely the 70th editions will be more than mere stickers-and-stitching jobs. Watch this space.
