After unveiling the second iteration of the Model X, Honda announced that the concept will become a reality in early 2003, when a production version is scheduled to go on sale. Like the concept, the production version will feature "open wide" suicide doors and a flat floor. The flexible interior of the Model X can accommodate a variety of gear, including surfboards, mountain bikes, and snowboards. The simple two-box exterior design sports side moldings running the length of the vehicle for a durable appearance. The functional interior features easy-to-clean seating surfaces, an MP3-compatible satellite radio, and a flip-up navigation screen with integrated wireless Internet capability, video input, and DVD playback. Honda promises entry-level cost for the production version (think $20,000 or so), a tactic it hopes will attract buyers who are young and active.
