Ford's SVT group started the current interest in powerhouse pickups back in 1993 with its Lightning model. It continues to sell the 380-hp supercharged version. And at this year's Detroit show, the company revealed a concept version based on the 2004 Ford F-150. The Lightning concept's supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 is good for 500 horsepower—expect the production version to be a little less powerful. The concept also has a six-speed manual, gigantic tires on 22-inch wheels, and huge Brembo brakes. Don't expect a production version for perhaps a year.
