Commenters Went Wild for These Bring a Trailer Auctions in 2025
A cartoon car re-creation, a military tank, and, as ever, a passel of Porsches were among this year's most popular.
Internet commenters surely are a mixed blessing of the modern age, but they definitely are part of what makes Bring a Trailer (which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos) so successful. Not all BaT auctions garner the same number of comments, of course; some get the community much more fired up than others. Looking back at 2025, these were the 10 auctions that garnered the most comments.
Leyland tank, 422 comments, sold for $107,000
This Leyland tank—specifically, an FV4201 Chieftain—is a four-passenger model powered by a 19-liter six-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed semi-automatic transmission. You might think it garnered a lot of comments because it's a tank, but actually, Bring a Trailer has auctioned 17 tanks. Probably it's because this one had just 1600 miles.
1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra, 430 comments, sold for $204,000
Let's talk about low miles: This Mustang SVT Cobra is essentially new-in-the-wrapper, with just 12 miles on the odometer. In fact, the seats and the floor mats are still in their plastic wrappers. Still, this result for a Fox-body Mustang was mind-blowing for more than a few of the 400-plus commenters.
1947 Westcraft travel trailer, 441 comments, sold for $107,000
This 28-foot Westcraft vintage travel trailer is said to have undergone a 10,000-hour restoration, and the BaT community oohed and aahed over the result. This auction did not require the winning bidder to bring a trailer, since it is a trailer; but in any event, it didn't have far to go. As it turns out, the winning bidder was just 10 miles from the seller's Westfield, Indiana, location.
1973 Pontiac Trans Am SD-455, 468 comments, sold for $156,000
People never tired of talking about this minty '73 Trans Am. The same car sold eight months earlier (for $137,000), and that auction garnered 462 comments. So, this Trans Am really should appear on this list twice.
1976 Porsche 911, 473 comments, sold for $850
Who says there are no affordable cars on BaT? And this is a Porsche, no less! No wonder commenters were excited. Granted, this '76 Porsche 911 does need some work. (This pic is the good side.) Importantly, the seller included both a driving video and one showing paint-meter readings to allay any concerns bidders might have.
2005 Porsche Carrera GT, 476 comments, sold for $1,389,000
This 2005 Porsche Carrera GT proved just a little bit more popular with commenters than that '76 911, and that's reflected in its selling price. Of course, it's also a few years newer; that also might have been a factor.
1971 Porsche 911S, 503 comments, sold for $657,000
This 1971 911S was sold by Jerry Seinfeld, who, in addition to being a fan of Pop-Tarts and the character Superman, is something of a Porsche buff as well. Mr. Seinfeld was also in a popular television show, and a hefty percentage of the comments appear to be quotes from that show. 2024 Porsche 911 S/T, 525 comments, sold for $805,992
Porsches are quite popular on Bring a Trailer, and this Porsche was particularly popular with two bidders (or their agents). In any event, this one-year-old Porsche 911 S/T, which had a sticker price of $331,420, sold for more than twice that sum. The 911 S/T was a pretty special model, and this was a pretty swell spec with the Heritage Design package and a fetching color combo, not to mention an as-new 23 miles, but the result still set tongues wagging.
2001 Acura Integra Type R, 554 comments, sold for $204,204
Porsches didn't get all the attention on BaT this year. This 4800-mile Acura Integra Type R got plenty of love too. Not only did it draw more comments than any other auction this year—save for one—but the sale price vaulted past the previous record for an Integra Type R on Bring a Trailer, another Phoenix Yellow 2001 ITR that went for $112,112 back in 2022 (and elicited 909 comments).
Flintmobile-style golf cart, 588 comments, sold for $19,999
Yabba dabba doo! The BaT community evidently contains numerous fans of The Flintstones, which is not too surprising given that the original animated series ran from 1960 to 1966, becoming a cultural touchstone along the way. This Flintmobile-style golf cart drew more comments than any other BaT auction this year.
