The first day of this year’s Geneva auto show has been jam-packed with production- and concept-car reveals—and even a few surprises. It's been so busy, in fact, that we really had to work to pare down our list of must-sees from day one. These cars come from all over the automotive spectrum, from a new Infiniti crossover to high-dollar GT cars real and imagined to a zingy hot hatch.
Bentley Speed 6 Concept
At every auto show, there’s always at least one manufacturer that tries to spring a surprise with a not-even-hinted-at new model. And although there’s still plenty of time for Geneva to produce some more astonishment—as of this writing, the first press day hasn’t even started—first blood goes to Bentley with the EXP 10 Speed 6.
2015 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse La Finale
At this point, it almost seems as if the Bugatti Veyron has existed forever, a de facto exemplar of mind-warping engineering that just simply is and always has been, rather than an engineering moonshot taken at the behest of one Ferdinand Piëch, a man who’s no stranger to moon-age daydreams made metal. After the Veyron, he commissioned the equally uncompromising Volkswagen XL1. Before it, he’d helmed Porsche’s 917 program, earning Zuffenhausen its first overall Le Mans win and eventual utter dominance over the North American Can-Am series. Out of the gate, the Veyron laid claim to a 253-mph top speed.
Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera Berlinetta Lusso
Ten years ago, Ferrari 250 Lussos were somewhat reasonably priced, perhaps even undervalued cars. Then Steve McQueen’s brown one sold for a jillion smackers. That, coupled with an overall rising tide in the sports-car collector market, especially where Ferraris and Porsches were concerned, made the Lusso a thing to have with a capital Thing. So it’s no large shock that Touring Superleggera’s follow up to the Alfa 8C–based Disco Volante revival bears the Lusso badge. To our relief, the new creation, which starts as a Ferrari F12berlinetta, ain’t exactly homely.
2016 Ferrari 488GTB
Can you feel the generational shift? That change in the supercar game comes from Ferrari, which has unveiled its new eight-cylinder, mid-engine sports-car standard-bearer, and the successor to the much-loved 458 Italia sees the insane-revving, naturally aspirated V-8 retired in favor of a turbocharged unit. This follows Ferrari’s recent promise that all of its future engines will be turbocharged or hybridized.
2016 Honda Civic Type R
After a yearlong tease that kicked off with a concept at the 2014 Geneva show, Honda has finally rolled out the production version of its hottest of hatches, the Civic Type R, at this year’s Swiss affair. Unfortunately for enthusiasts in the U.S., the tease continues, as this Civic Type R, like previous versions, is not expected to come stateside. But allow us to torment you with details of Honda’s mightiest mite anyway.
Infiniti QX30 Concept
We needed to do a double take when Infiniti pulled the sheets off of the QX30 concept at the show. At first blush, the only readily discernible difference between the QX30 and the Q30 concept that debuted at the 2013 Frankfurt auto show is the extra letter in the former’s name denoting its status as an Infiniti crossover/SUV. This isn’t a gotcha moment, though: The QX30 intentionally copies the Q30 show car, because it is the Q30.
2016 Koenigsegg Regera
Koenigsegg has built fewer cars during its entire existence than Ferrari produces in a single week, and yet the Swedish hypercar manufacturer has become disproportionally adept at winning headlines. Take for example the Regera, the company’s all-new model and a car that makes the 1341-hp One:1 that we drove not long ago look slightly underpowered.
2016 Lamborghini Aventador SV
As was widely expected—especially after spy photographers crashed a prelaunch photo shoot in January—Lamborghini has introduced the new Aventador SV. And like its “Superveloce” (“superfast” in Italian) predecessors dating back to the Miura, this Aventador model is more powerful, lighter, and, yes, even more extreme-looking than the car on which it’s based. Clearly, Lamborghini has no intentions of surrendering any wall space in the rooms of the earth’s population of 12-year-olds.
2015 McLaren P1 GTR
If you’re filthy rich and bored, there is an embarrassment of choices when it comes to filling your days. This being a car-centric forum, we’ll skip past the requisite yacht purchases and supermodel-girlfriend juggling and get right to the point: gentlemen’s racing. Everyone’s doing it, from Lamborghini and its Blancpain single-make series to Maserati’s Trofeo single-make series, as well as whatever it is Ferrari expects FXX K buyers to do with their race-series-less multimillion-dollar track toys. McLaren is in on the game, and you’re looking at its latest distraction for the playboy set: the P1 GTR.

Porsche has the art of exciting 911 devotees down to a science, and the buildup to the reveal of the 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS was no different. For most neunelf followers, the twitching began with the simple knowledge that the car was on its way, the eagerness growing to sweaty-palmed anticipation with every unsubstantiated rumor or spy shot.
