Step into the Palexpo convention center in Geneva, Switzerland, during the annual auto show, and the overwhelming impression is one of class and sophistication, with high-dollar exotics and luxury sedans from storied marques everywhere you look. But Geneva also plays host to tuners, design houses, and, yes, even manufacturers with a taste for the tasteless, the strange, and the eye-opening. One needs only to look between the imported show girls, Ferraris, Astons, and Rolls-Royces to find these oddball automotive attendees and their creations—here were our favorites.

The car was exciting only because of the source material—a body kit and sinister paint job aren't exactly groundbreaking.

Volkswagen's new Euro-market Passat (not the same as our Passat) is an amazing car. We rode in a few during the show, and so we naturally want this wagon version, bad. With ABT's subtle mods, this one's even more lust-worthy.
Aston Martin DBX concept
If you need us to explain how a jacked-up, electric, all-wheel-drive Aston Martin coupe is a bit . . . off, well, we can't help anymore.
Brabus Mercedes-Benz S63 6.0 850 coupe
Mercedes-Benz tuner Brabus has been doing the "evil executive express" thing for a long, long time, which is probably why this S63 AMG–based 850 6.0 Biturbo coupe looks so well turned-out.

Looks aren't everything—case in point, Brabus has tuned the Biturbo coupe to produce 850 horsepower and 1069 lb-ft of torque. Brabus wisely limits peak torque to just 848 lb-ft to prevent the driveline from lunching itself.

There's really nothing to say but this: The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 is already incredibly outrageous. Brabus messing with one? Even more absurdly awesome.

Citroën C4 Cactus
This Citroën C4 Cactus isn't tuned, doesn't have 700 horsepower, and doesn't have a wacky paint job or wrap. So why is it on this list? Exactly. (We drove one recently, so we feel justified in including it here.)

Years from now, 2015 Geneva auto show veterans will remark: "Boy, remember that car that resembled a backlit embryonic sac?"

Also in Hamann's booth sat this Gulf™-liveried Porsche Macan. Wait—hold on one second, the lawyers are on the phone—okay, yeah, no, this isn't Gulf™ livery. It's just an orange-over-pale-blue paint job that closely resembles a Gulf™ livery but isn't that it any way.

Kahn Land Rover Defender 6x6
Everybody's getting in on the six-wheeled gig, it seems. Kahn Design's marquee Geneva debut was this, a stretched, GM V-8–powered Land Rover Defender with an extra axle added to the back.
