Overview

A mid-engine Corvette seemed like a huge break from tradition when the C8 generation hit the market in late 2019, and Chevy further modernized the sports car with the introduction of the 2024 E-Ray hybrid model. Rumors swirled that the Corvette was set to go through another permutation when a fully electric version was added to the lineup. Chevrolet confirmed that the Corvette EV was on the way, but since then, we've not heard much and suspect the model has been significantly delayed. We expected a powerful, three- or four-motor powertrain with around 1000 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive. The race is on for an all-electric sports car, with upcoming rivals such as an electric version of the Porsche 718 also eyeing the same performance niche of the EV marketplace.

What's New?

The Corvette EV will be a new addition to the Corvette lineup when it hits the market. It's too early to guess when it will debut but we think it won't come out until at least 2030.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

We expect the Corvette EV to cost a lot more than the gas-powered base model's starting price, but Chevrolet hasn't said exactly how much the car will cost or what trim levels will be offered. It's also possible that, in addition to the coupe, the Corvette EV could also be offered as a convertible.
