The GMC Terrain underwent a thorough redesign for the 2025 model year, but the SUV is still essentially a clone of the Chevrolet Equinox.
Over the years, the GMC Terrain has sold well, appealing to buyers with its unique styling.
The Terrain has a boxier, more trucklike appearance than the Equinox, its Chevy stablemate.
Tidy dimensions make the Terrain relatively easy to live with and maneuver in tight urban environments.
The front grille is larger this year.
All Terrains come with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 175 horsepower.
A continuously variable automatic transmission is standard, as is front-wheel drive, but adding all-wheel drive swaps in an eight-speed automatic.
Acceleration is mediocre, and in our testing, an all-wheel-drive Terrain Elevation needed 8.6 seconds to reach 60 mph.
Handling is forgettable too. Around our skidpad, our test car registered a disappointing 0.80 g of cornering grip.
The best part of the 2025 Terrain is its entry price, which is a relatively affordable $31,395.
Our test vehicle had a number of desirable options added, as well as a few that we'd skip. The final price: $40,515.
